This model can handle up to 5 acres or more and features replaceable forged hammer blades that will cut and mulch wooded material up to 3" in diameter. It is powered by a PTO shaft with a heavy-duty gearbox that turns the knife shaft, cutting the mowed material down to a minimum, which allows it to decompose quickly. For best results, we recommend using a tractor with a minimum of 40 HP and a maximum of 60 HP. Their linear cut reduces the risk of thrown debris, making them a better choice for mowing areas with rocks, branches, and debris anywhere people may be present. I like the flail because my 5 acre yard is rough and this works better than s finish mower. I also have a bank that I mow and the offset is great for this. I use the offset of mowing around youpon bushes, this way I don't trim as much. I use a rotary mower to mow the pasture. I modified the flail to work with a quick hitch. I change implements to often to not have a quick hitch. I also use a chain for the top link, allows the mower to follow the ground changes..

Great mower but the worst customer service.

Just finished mowing a 10 acre overgrown hayfield and the mower preformed like a nice zero turn. The problem comes when you need to ask a simple question and call customer service. The flail mower is not setup for a rear quick hitch and called to inquire if a kit was available to convert it. The customer rep sounded like a 20 year old girl that didn't even know what a flail mower was and after being put on hold I was informed that I would receive an email regarding my question which of course I haven't. I have received three more emails requesting a review which I have already given a week ago.

Great attachment for land clearing

Has definitely survived my test. Initial engagement broke the shear bolt on the PTO shaft. It was a basic grade 5 bolt I had in the shop. I’d recommend engaging at 1500 rpm or less and then increase to the 540 PTO point. I was able to clear a lot of saplings and undergrowth in a day. Couldn’t be more pleased with the performance, especially at this price.

Overall pleased with my purchase

Having the boot sub-assembly and the hitch bracket weldment fitting underneath the actual mower deck was unhelpful. The right and left hitch plates were accessable but I could not build the top link hitch because it was under the mower. This caused me to have to use chains and pallet forks to lift the mower to access all of the parts instead of being able to build the link and boot and use the 3-point of the tractor to lift the mower from the crate. Also, you advertise delivery to a customer's door but they deliver in a 48' trailer with a lift gate which is not accessible to everyone's house/place of delivery. Fortunately, the driver was able to back down my street, otherwise they wanted me to unload them on the side of a 2 lane county highway. In the instructions, it states at the bottom of page 9 to ensure that the gear box is properly filled with 90 weight gear oil. It gives no instruction as to how much to put in and the actual instructions/diagram for filling the gear box dont appear until page 15. I wasted a lot of oil by having those instructions on page 15 instead of page 9. Also, if you put all of the brackets together and install the PTO shaft, accessing the oil level plug becomes an issue. Very solid, well built piece of equipment. Performs as expected. Overall, pleased with my purchase.

Good attachment

This is a well built, robust flail mower that is a good balance between a brush-hog style mower and a finish mower. It doesn’t cut as pretty as a finish mower, butnit will eat tall pasture grass easily. Its quite a bit quieter than I expected for a mower, I can mow without ear muffs and still hear other things. The assembly of the upper 3-point attachment arms is different than expected—one side goes on the inside of the lower 3-point and the other side goes on the outside. I did this opposite the direction to offset less to the right side of the tractor, no clearance issues doing this. The delivery crate is big, so be prepared—it has to have the arms out on for it to be moved by the 3-point. It could be lifted out with a sling. Also know the owners manual oil spec calls for a grade of oil that isn’t readily available gear oil. It takes just over a quart, which is not stated in the manual. It needs initial greasing of the drum and roller as well before using. Mows well, I would buy it again. My property is far from flat and I use it on a 32HP diesel tractor without any challenges.

Good mower with quality cut

Overall the mower is great and I really like the way it cuts our pasture. Easy to use once set up and quieter than a brush hog type cutter. Quality of cut is similar to a zero turn mower when the grass isn't over 1'-2' tall. Couple issues I ran into though, the first is that the grease fittings are garbage and should be replaced with better material. I snapped two of them just during the initial grease up. The other is that the manual online doesn't reflect the latest design of the mower so I had to verify that there wasn't any oil ports on the transmission shaft as it says in the manual. Customer service is good when you can get hold of them. I tried on three separate occasions to use the online format for submitting questions and I never received a response on any of them, I had to call each time. They never return your call if you do use that option when call so you'll have to be on hold till someone picks up. I know they're probably busy and with COVID it adds more issues but you should still be able to respond to your customers in some way or another in a timely fashion.
